EWO - Our Story
In May 2015, my wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
After we were able to process the shocking news, she decided to fight her disease.
In the beginning of 2018, she was barely able to walk 500m before pain or spasticity occured. She could not go anywhere without a person supporting her. To her, this meant dependence and the feeling of inferiority.
In May 2018, she asked me to build a mobility aid that would enable her to move more freely and independently.
We spent the following months looking for a vehicle that would fit her wishes, or someone who would build such a vehicle. Then we found an engineer with expertise for special bikes who built the first prototype according to our concept of a rollator that can be used walking, sitting or standing upright.
When we tried the vehicle on sidewalks and off-road, I finally saw my wife beaming with happiness again after a very long time. She finally had a mobility aid that enabled her to move independently. It was a wonderful feeling for us as relatives to be able to help her and make her happy.
After a week of testing the vehicle, she asked why we don’t offer this help to people in similar situations, for example patients with rheumatism, MS and back, knee or hip problems or patients in rehabilitation? She wanted these people to have the possibility to become more independent and to train their muscles and their mobility just like she is able to now.
As a family, we got together and decided to build a mobility aid that would not look like a conventional rollator.
We wanted it to be secure, versatile, not too heavy and still stylish.
The name EWO life - quality was born.
I am very proud that four generations have contributed to this product. This cannot be taken for granted.
My wife has now been training to improve her mobility with the EWO for half a year without using medicaments. She has become a lot more flexible and independent.
With the EWO, she was able to win back her quality of life.
